  • Is it fair that cigarettes don’t have to list additives when other products do?

I suppose it is fair, user beware.   In a perfect world,
cigarettes would list additives and guns would come with instructions.

  • trout fishing

Fished this morning with Jake and brought in a 10" rainbow and a 12" brown.    The brown trout was caught on a weighted wolly bugger fly in a 3ft pool on the Lamprey in New Market, the other was good old fashion bobber fishing at the water works in Exeter.   That brown was the heaviest fish caught on my fresh water fly pole.   It must have taken 80ft of line when catching the current.   I was a slave to the shoreline so half the battle was running around brush and trees; much less stress hooking in with waders.    I'm going to experiment with different fly's tonight/tomorrow morning.

  • waterville

Skied Waterville valley on Saturday.   The base is roughly 4 ft, so there was plenty of snow but with a sheet of ice over most of it.  This made navigating tricky on some of the major trails, especially when the snowboarders are going down sideways and plowing ANY remaining snow.   Some of the blue trails off to the sides of True Grit have had some decent grooming and carry some spotty powder, so that's where we stayed.   Made about 7 runs before a late lunch and discovered they shut down the lifts at 4:00 - wtf!   They have not moved the hr. ahead since Daylight savings (they must figure they are going to have all the lift tickets and rental purchases by then anyhow).   All and all, they definitely can accommodate the busy crowds on a Saturday offering 40-50 open trails and a couple fast quads.  My grade for Waterville is a B.

  • Which is more powerful: actions or words?

The most compelling stories from history began with the word of its following action, so they are equally as powerful if used genuine.

  • New Skis

So it's late tonight but need to mention my brand new spanking pair of skis!  I just tore the plastic off and am now imagining all the amazing tricks i will pull off from my kitchen where they lay without bindings.   I went with Elan 168's and i have to say the color gray is pretty swank.   I now have to price out boots or else i'm going to have to duct tape my most comfortable shoes to these things...more on that later.

  • spring fever

So today is Leap Year day and we are supposed to receive yet another snow storm tonight that could amount to a foot of, well you know.   Tonight i'm thinking spring by watching the RedSox pre~season game against Minnesota.  I'm now thinking of going down to Ft Myers for a game via SkyBus, an affordable airline out of Pease Airforce base.
Tomorrow i'm going back to embracing the winter by snowboarding in some fresh powder, although the temp could be down around 15-20*.   The change of seasons in New England is great and all, but around March 1st  i always  begin to really feel Spring Fever..

  • Rebates.   The term rebate is beginning to really
set me off with retailers.   The past 5-6 rebate offers i have
submitted have either fell through the cracks or have taken over 2 months to
arrive.   For instance last night, Home Depot was sponsoring 20% off
Bare paints.    The paint counter had an enormous banner that
prompted me to buy a gallon for my son’s room.   As i get to the
counter and check out, there was no 20% off on the receipt.   Come to
find out the discount was through a rebate.   They figure half the
people will actually submit the rebate form for a measly $5 bucks.   Its
one thing to save the money at the register that night, but it's entirely
another thing to send away for $5.   Then i'm sure i will start
receiving junk mail as a result.

  • snowboarding

So i'm finally beginning to get the hang of snowboarding.   The1st  few times out included some toughs falls, catching an edge on a board at high speed is like getting thrown from a mechanical bull (you're down before you know it).   I found the difficulty level and learning curve to be much tougher then skiing.
I find with skiing, i have a lot more confidence to move around the trail and with less work.   Boarding can be smooth and quite a rush when things are going right.   For now, when the snow is falling and there's powder abound , i will grab the board.   When the conditions are groomed or hard packed, i'm grabbing the skis.

  • New England Pats

    Where do New England fans
    go from here?
    *  Will the Bruins have enough players off the injured list when if comes
    time for the playoffs?
    *  When do the sox begin pre-season baseball?  I would love to go
    down this year!
    * How will the steroid hearings affect the MLB in 08?
    * I’m wondering how long spring skiing will last.
    * Is the reason the pats lost because Brady cut his hair?  I
noticed long hair until the super bowl- what a dumb ass. (that's a joke)
    *  Will Sirius merge with XM this year?
    *  What two presidential candidates will go head to head?
I'm beginning to think Hillary and the Mitt, although
    senator
McCain could very well come in as the front runner for the republican
party.  I'm not going to post views on politics but surprised he
took NH over Mitt.   The midwest may  go in Romney's favor.
I watched Senator McCain’s mother on an interview
late last week and was totally
entertained.   She is between 87 and 92 yrs of age and as
    quick as a
whip on responses.   She said at one point “what you see
    and hear
from my son is what you get and the public would be lucky to receive
    him as our
    president"  awesome.
